I always enjoy the Olympics and I was particularly looking forward to the opening ceremony tonight in Italy.
The oversized paint tubes were a particular highlight - metaphors for Italy’s artistic legacy from Renaissance frescoes to contemporary fashion and industrial design. As performers “squeezed” bursts of color across the stage through choreography, light projections and fabric, the ceremony painted a visual story of Italy’s creative and cultural legacy.
The paint tubes also acted as a reminder that sport, like art, is built through discipline, experimentation, and expression.
May the Games commence.
