In 2006, Teddy McDonald was invited by actress Elizabeth Hurley to design a unique gift-boxed scented candle as a complimentary product alongside her swimwear and beachwear collection.

The design brief included the requirement to create packaging that retained the Wonderfully Whiffy brand identity while also being recognisable as an Elizabeth Hurley Beach product.  The obvious solution was to cover the gift-box in a collage of sea shells.

Elizabeth Hurley also provided a quote for a special card to accompany each candle.

Unfortunately the project did not progress to retail due to a clause in Ms Hurley's contract with Estee Lauder preventing her from retailing fragranced products not bearing the Estee Lauder name.

Background to the Brand

The 'Wonderfully Whiffy' brand was designed and trademarked by Teddy McDonald in 2005 and sold exclusively in Selfridges London and Brown Thomas Ireland. Wonderfully Whiffy was chosen as an official product supplier to The BRIT Awards in 2007 and received an investment offer from one of the stars of the BBC Show Dragons' Den.

Coldplay also selected the brand to create a calming aroma in their dressing room on the X&Y world tour.
